Our Sawgrass Mills outdoor rugs are made with genuine DuraCord® yarns. These rugs are hand hooked using an ancient technique developed in the orient. Combining this technique with today's synthetic materials creates beautifully crafted, soft to the toes, luxuriously thick rugs that are rugged enough to withstand the harsh outdoor environment. Whether used on a patio or in a sunroom, these Sawgrass Mills hand hooked outdoor rugs are the perfect accent for any setting.

Completely hand hooked by craftspeople following our strict design specifications, the Sawgrass Mills Outdoor Rugs begin with a multi-transfer process of the full rug layout. Artisans first place the design onto the base synthetic canvas. The synthetic canvas is then stretched onto a working frame from which the artisan will bring the rug to life. Multi-strands of DuraCord® yarn are formed into the layer that is wound onto spools for use in crafting the rug. The yarn is threaded into a rug needle to begin the hooking. Following the transferred lines, the craftsperson creates the design image with hundreds of punches in and out throughout the synthetic canvas. Once the rug is completed, it is removed from the wooden frame. A weatherproof binding adhesive is spread over the back of the synthetic canvas that will serve to hold the loops in place. Then, an open weave net is attached to the back of the rug to hold its shape and size. The rug is then finished by folding and securing the edge of the synthetic canvas material to the back of the rug. The Sawgrass Mills Outdoor Rug is then ready to adorn any porch, breezeway or patio.

The face side of these outdoor rugs is made from DuraCord® with every detail carefully inspected by hand. The backing of these rugs is 100% synthetic as well to perform in the outdoors. There is no jute within the construction of Sawgrass Mills Outdoor Rugs that can cause mildew growth. Other so-called outdoor rugs incorporate jute to give them stability and maintain the desired square shape. Sawgrass Mills Outdoor Rugs have replaced the jute to maintain a 100% synthetic construction. There is nothing that can rot on the either side of the rug and the face of the rugs maintains the soft cotton-like feel that is not available in any other outdoor rug.
